garment care

We take great care in laundering and cleaning our pieces before they arrive in your home. With that in mind, we wanted to share our process and tips with you, should you ever find it useful.

Linen

Use a gentle detergent and wash linen in cold water. To prevent color bleeding, separate light and dark linen items. Hang dry in a shaded area (unless whites). For a crisp look, steam garments after drying. Otherwise, embrace the natural texture and feel.

Cotton

Most cotton garments are machine washable using a light or delicate setting. To prevent color bleeding, separate light, dark, and color cotton items. Use gentle detergent and wash in cold water. Choosing lower temperatures reduces the risk of shrinkage and color fading - additionally, we advise avoiding fabric softeners as they can damage the fabric. Wash with similar colors. Hang dry after shaking out to reshape. Although cotton can withstand machine drying - tumble dry, no heat.

Rayon / Acetate

Hand wash with a mild detergent and cold water is recommended. Machine washable on a cold, delicate setting with no spin. Wring out gently and hang dry or on a flat surface.

Wool

Wool is naturally temperature-regulating, self-cleaning, and breathable, meaning it resists odors and requires infrequent washing. In most cases, simply refreshing your woolen garments by gently shaking them out, laying them flat overnight, or steaming will suffice. Spot cleaning with a gentle wool detergent (we like Eucalan Woolwash) is a safe way to treat spots and stains.

When additional cleaning is needed, always refer to the care label inside the garment. Woolen items such as sweaters and tops can be hand-washed in cold water using an eco-friendly wool detergent, such as Eucalan Woolwash. Avoid harsh detergents, bleach, and excessive agitation, as these can compromise the delicate fibers. Instead, handle your wool pieces gently to maintain their softness and longevity.

For additional cleaning, we recommend taking your wool pieces to your local dry cleaner.

Polyester

Polyester is easily washed and quick drying. Machine washable on a cold, delicate setting. Recommended hang dry as most pieces dry quickly and may shrink if tumble dried. Polyester is sensitive to heat - so be cautious when steaming out wrinkles.

Silk

Most silk pieces can be laundered at home - carefully. We wash our silk pieces by hand or in a machine on a delicate, cold setting with a low spin. Always air dry these pieces after washing, reshaping with your hands before laying flat or on a drying rack. Steaming silk pieces after drying is the gentlest way to release folds or wrinkles, although an iron on the lowest setting with a cloth in between your iron and your garment can work as well. Tumble dried silk will never regain its silhouette and can shrink.

For embellished silk items hand washing is recommended, and for silk knits we recommend taking them to your local dry cleaner.
